Paula Scher

Paula Scher is an American graphic designer and painter from New York. She is one of the most influential designers in the world and is a part founder of Pentagram, one famous agencies and intitutions.

The reason I decided to research her work is because of her personal painting projects on American Maps using typography. I like her use of bold colour in her typography because it contrasts well to the black backgrounds she uses.

Full Documentary on Scher and her work.

Scher’s work will influence my work on Map Building, Typographic Form and Colour. I want my Tram Map to be as striking as her vibrant designs but to have a more uniform and grid-like form, much like Harry Beck’s Map.
